Hello everyone, I hope that you all are enjoying your weekend! The semester is coming to a close, finally! There’s always a good and bad to everything. The good is that the semester is coming to an end and the bad is that exams are approaching, along with projects. It’s time to get into full-focus mode for just a few more weeks. It’ll be a grind for here on out, but well worth it.
This week and picked-up my cap and gown and it was one of the greatest feelings! Just knowing that my undergrad is coming to an end is a satisfying feeling. Once you get it, it’s like all the hard work that you’ve been putting into for years is finally paying off. It’s getting to the point where I’m now counting the days, weeks, etc. until I walk across the stage. Senoritis is approaching at a high speed, but I am determined to fight through it and finish off strong.
As I hinted to earlier, you have to get through this semester to achieve the ultimate goal. I have two projects due soon. One this week and another a few weeks from now in the same class, not to mention a quiz this week as well. I’m not too fond of it, but I know this is coming to an end. Just put my best foot forward and just do everything to the best of my abilities. It’ll pan out for me in the end. That’s all that I can hope for.
With that being said, I hope that everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend and the week ahead!
Hello SXU Community!
This has been quite a crazy week for the sports and non-sports world lol
1. Duke won the NCAA Championship on Monday night against Wisconsin. Everyone believed that Wisconsin would win but Duke came out on top and it was exciting.

2. Chicago’s Mayoral Election was Tuesday. Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Jesus “Chuy” Garcia went head to head at the polls. On Facebook, I read a lot of complaints about Mayor Rahm winning a second term. Apparently, some people were outraged at the ballot scandal and jumped to the conclusion that he was a cheater and should be fired. What bothers me is that people complain about how our government is run BUT they do not go out and vote! Chuy never claimed or promised to do anything which I think is why he lost. People forget that Rahm got elected into a bad economic state for Chicago and has had to make some of the toughest decisions for us. I personally did not know who to vote for. As a young adult, I like to fulfill my duties as a citizen of the United States and went with my gut feeling.

3. Boston Bomber Update Wednesday. As a criminal justice major, I pay a very close attention to the news. This man was found guilty of about 17 counts and was eligible for the death penalty.

4. SXU grads picked up their caps and gowns yesterday and I bet it was a bitter sweet feeling. We have been in school for close to 16 years and some of us will be studying for a couple of years longer. I still have one more year to go and I am excited!!
We have about 3 weeks until the end of the semester! Keep up the hard work Cougars! The light at the end of the tunnel is approaching.
I hope your Easter was as colorful and sweet as all the candy I found in my Easter eggs. This semester has been quite hard and it feels so long! I am at that point in the semester when I feel that I can’t progress anymore because I am so tired of the sleepless nights, getting up early, and all the homework.
If you are in the same boat as I am, check out this tips to help you reduce the stress levels.
TIP #1 – YOGA
I hear that yoga is a great way to release stress and find that inner peace that you are in such a desperate need of. It’s also a great way of exercise.
TIP #2 – Going for a walk
Going for a walk is a great way to clear your head and distract yourself life’s worries. You can take the scenic route and take pictures by a lake, a playground, or the sky. Anything your heart desires. Get an ice cream! Or you can walk to the store and pick yourself up a snack and movie to watch when you get home.
TIP #3 – Sleep! A LOT!
I know you’re tired from having such a long week. Take a nap! I know you want to! If you have anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour, you can nap. Once you wake up, two things can happen. 1. You will feel refreshed, productive, and alive. OR 2. You will feel even more tired, zombieish, or sluggish. Get up, take a nice cold shower and go build a bridge. Now get over it. Live is too beautiful to feel down and stressed all the time.
Doggy taking a nap!
Sometimes the best way to deal with stress is to just do it. In terms of work anyway. No more compliants or distractions. Just do it.
Have four more weeks of school left! Hang in there Cougars! Stay safe!
This is going to be a short post because it is late on Easter Sunday and I am exhausted from celebrating with my family. SXU students get a nice little four day break for Easter for I was lucky enough to arrive home on Wednesday night and spend a few days helping my Mom prepare for all of the Easter festivities.
I have two nephews, ages four and six, so although I have outgrown some of the traditional Easter activities, it is great to be able to relive all of that with them. Our Easter was complete with coloring eggs, an Easter egg hunt and tons of food. Everyone in my family is calling it an early night.
I would love to have tomorrow off of school, but since I don’t I will be heading back to campus VERY early tomorrow morning and probably hitting some exciting traffic along the way. I’ve mentioned this before, but because I travel home to see my family pretty often, I feel like I live out of a suitcase. I have half of my wardrobe at home and the other half at school yet I’m always forgetting something at one place or another or realizing that one item of clothing I need isn’t there when I need it. I am looking forward to fully moving back home for the summer and staying in one place for a while.
As we approach the final few weeks of school, everyone that lives on campus is gearing up for the housing lottery. This will be my third housing lottery and it has been rather stressful every time. I anticipate that this year will be no different. Despite preparation and careful calculation on my part, the lottery is mostly random. This means that there’s a chance (a big chance) that you’re not going to get exactly what you want. When it comes to living arrangements that you have to endure for an entire academic year, you want to be satisfied and comfortable so it’s a big deal and it always creates some frustration. I have about a week and a half before that takes place so my roommates and I will spending some of that time reviewing all of our possibilities and options and mentally preparing ourselves.
I hope everyone had a Happy Easter! Here’s to the beginning of the end, the final stretch in finishing the semester!
Hello everyone! I hope you all had a great Holy week and enjoyed the Easter Break that we had! I did not realize how badly I needed this break till it started. To begin
with it really helped me get over the bug I had over the past couple of weeks. However, most importantly I was able to go home and see my family, and even though it was a short break it helped me feel so much better. I didn’t realize how badly I missed home till I was there, and how happy I was to be back. This break I got to just hang out with my family and it was great. It surprised me to see how much my siblings had grown since I saw them for winter break.
Going home helped me recharge for this last month of school that we have. Only one more month until my freshman year is complete. That thought sounds crazy, where did this year go? It flew by
! I cannot believe that our seniors graduate so soon either, they are a key component to our school and will be missed terribly but I also know that they will go into the world and do great things. The idea that in one month I will get to go home for the summer sounds strange, it truly amazes me how much Saint Xavier and Chicago has also became my home. I feel so blessed to be part of a school that is so focused on diversity, education, learning, service, and so much more. hope you all had a great Holy week and enjoyed the Easter Break that we had! So to end with this week’s post ask yourself this, did you make this year what you wanted it to be? Did you complete your goals for this year? Did you branch out? Did you scare yourself? Did you try as hard as you should have? If you had to change one thing what would it be? If you aren’t happy with your answers, you have one month, change them.
Hello everyone, I hope that you all are having a great weekend and enjoyed your past week. It was a short week at Saint Xavier University, as we took Thursday and Friday off for Easter break. It also allowed us the opportunity to celebrate Good Friday as well. It is always a humbling experience because it allows you to focus and realize what is really important to you and to just let all of the frivolous things go. Life is too precious to hold on to grudges!
It was great weekend for me, personally. My girlfriend and I celebrated our one year anniversary together. We went to the movies to see Furious Seven, which is a great movie! We also went out to each dinner at the first place we went to on our first date. I love this woman more than words can express. She is everything that I can ask for in a perfect partner and that is what I needed. I know that we are going to celebrate many more anniversaries down the road and this is just the tip of the iceberg. I love spending time with her and she makes me smile whenever I see her. When you get a hold of someone that special, never let them go. They may make you mad at times, but a relationship needs a lot of effort and compromise on both ends, not just one. That why me and her have such a great relationship. We have no secrets and we believe in/trust each other.
With that being said, I hope that everyone enjoys the upcoming week ahead, and just keep telling yourself that there is only one month left in the semester. Just four weeks left. Go to work and make each day count so that you can finish strong with the grades that you desire! Have a great, blessed week!
